What to pin on your X profile

Your Pinned post carries 25 points in the Method. Choose something that delivers on your Bio, not an expired announcement.

Start with the promise in your Bio. Then find a post that shows a stranger what that promise looks like.

A popular joke can have impressive numbers without showing your work. Choose for relevance before choosing for likes.

The 4 Pinned post Rules below are Zeus’s grading standards. They are not evidence that a particular post will increase follows.

1. Fill the slot deliberately

Rule PIN-1 — Something is pinned−10 points

Leaving nothing pinned costs 10 points. Choose a post rather than leaving the slot to your latest update.

List 3 candidates from your own posts. For each, write what a stranger learns without knowing you already.

Remove candidates that need private context, missing screenshots or an event that has ended. If none delivers useful material, write one.

2. Choose 1 of the 3 formats

Rule PIN-2 — A format that converts−6 points

Use an introduction thread, your best recent performance or a resource thread. An announcement that delivers nothing loses 6 points.

An introduction thread explains your work through examples. Give the reader your subject, something you have made and what you publish.

Your best recent performance shows work worth seeing: a finished piece, a project or a post that resonated. Include enough context to understand it.

A resource thread teaches something usable. Deliver the checklist, explanation or worked example in the thread, not only behind a signup.

  • Entrepreneur: show a completed project, your role and what changed. Use only results you can substantiate.
  • Artist: introduce a finished collection through selected pieces and explain what connects them.
  • Writer: share an excerpt with context, or teach a technique through a worked example.

Loses points

Something big is coming. Follow for the announcement.

Keeps them

I write cold email for B2B software teams. Here is a sample sequence, with the reason for each line.

Fictional opening lines, not a scored profile. The second needs the actual sequence underneath, not another promise.

Do not invent customer results to make the post look established. A clearly labelled sample can show your approach without claiming sales.

3. Review the date and the promise

Rule PIN-3 — Pinned recently−5 points

The Method calls for a pin within the last 3 to 6 months. A stale pin costs 5 points.

Check whether the post still describes your current work. Review launch dates, availability, links and references to things that have changed.

When an old resource needs revision, publish a substantive update and pin that. Changing the pin is not a measured follower-growth result.

A screenshot cannot always establish when you pinned a post. Do not treat its visible publication date as proof of the pin date.

4. Read the posts underneath

Rule PIN-4 — Recent posts underneath−4 points

The posts underneath should be recent, on your 2 pillars and not only replies. Breaking this Rule loses 4 points.

A pillar is a recurring subject you publish about. Name your 2 subjects plainly, then compare them with the visible posts.

For the cold email example, those subjects could be writing sequences and explaining campaign results. Random announcements do not demonstrate either.

Read your pin together with the recent timeline. A useful introduction does not replace original posts about the work it describes.

Check the whole profile after changing the pin

  • Choose the candidate that delivers on your Bio through an introduction, recent performance or resource.
  • Open every link and remove expired invitations or unsupported claims.
  • Read the first visible lines on your phone. Put the subject before background a stranger does not need.
  • Capture the Avatar, Banner, Bio and Pinned post at full width, adding a second screenshot if needed.

The free profile Score needs a screenshot and an email address. It includes strengths, Element Grades, your worst Flaw and 1 Fix.

The paid Report includes a Pinned post pick and replacement words. Zeus does not publish the post or measure your follower conversion.

Start with the promise in the Bio guide, then see what the Report includes. The free Score starts with the screenshot below.

Drop a screenshot. Zeus returns the Score, the Verdict and your worst Flaw, free.

Or drag it in, or paste it from the clipboard. You can add two, so nothing gets cut off. Any profile works, including your friends’.
