Why strangers visit your X profile and do not follow

You are getting profile visits. They are not becoming follows. The gap is always in the same 5 places.

A profile visit is the last step before a follow, and the one nobody optimises. The post did its work. The page it delivered to did not.

You cannot see your own profile as a stranger sees it. You already know who you are, which is exactly the information the visitor lacks.

The avatar, in the first half second

X shows your avatar at 48 pixels in a timeline. A holiday photo with a small figure in it becomes a grey smudge at that size.

Rule AV-1A sharp face8 points

A sharp face filling the frame. A landscape or a distant figure loses points.

Rule AV-2Readable when small4 points

Detail that disappears when the image shrinks costs more points on top.

The banner, the largest thing on the page

The banner is the biggest surface on your profile and usually the emptiest. A stock landscape sells nothing and answers no question.

It has one job: say what you do, or show proof that you do it. Words on a banner are allowed, and they work.

Rule BN-1A banner that says something6 points

A banner that states an offer or a subject keeps its points. Scenery does not.

Rule BN-3Not the default banner4 points

The default empty banner reads as an abandoned account, and costs the most in this Element.

The bio, where most of the points are

The bio is 30 of 100 points, because it is where the decision is made. It has to name a specialty, an outcome, proof and one next step.

Most bios name none of those. They list identities, which the visitor cannot use.

Rule BIO-2What a follower gets8 points

No promised outcome is the single most expensive mistake in the Method.

The handle and the header line

The display name has room for a keyword beside your name, and almost nobody uses it. It is free searchable context.

Rule HN-1A keyword in the name5 points

A keyword next to the name keeps the points. A bare name loses some.

Rule HN-2One link, named4 points

One link, labelled so a stranger knows what opens.

The pinned post, the one thing you control

The pinned post is the first thing a visitor reads after the bio. An 8 month old announcement tells them the account is dormant.

Pin the post that converts: proof, a thread that delivers, or the offer. Changing one post is the cheapest Fix on any list.

Rule PIN-1Something is pinned10 points

Nothing pinned at all is a straight deduction.

Rule PIN-3Pinned recently5 points

A stale pin dates the account, and points come off for age.

Fix them in order of what they cost

The 5 Elements are not equal. Bio carries 30 points, Pinned post 25, then Avatar, Banner and Handle at 15 each.

So the order is the arithmetic: bio first, pinned post second. Zeus reads a screenshot and hands the list back in that order.
